I only enjoy creating art about people I know. This means we must schedule a meetup so I can get to know you.
I am based in the Philippines, but I can travel anywhere in the world or you can travel to Makati, Philippines. Yes, it will be a very personal portrait painting.
"My art is all about meanings -- meaningful art and meaningful relationships."
2. TELL ME YOUR STORY AND TELL ME YOUR PREFERRED SIZE FOR THE CANVAS
I only ask for these two things. The beauty of the process of our artwork is that I will not ask you how you would like to be painted. I will paint you based on my encounter with you. I paint in a minimum size of 50 cm x 70 cm and I use both acrylic and oil.
"Art is all about perspectives. Anybody can paint you, what makes my art unique is how I will paint you."
3. I WILL CREATE YOUR ART FOR ABOUT 30 DAYS
The process of creating your art includes interpreting your character, capturing your story, planning the elements of the painting (takes 50% of the time), hiding meanings, puzzles or even treasure hunts, and embedding musical notes (takes 30% of the time), then placing all of that in a canvas (20% of the time).
"In life and in painting, I like seeing a beautiful accident, but I love having a deliberate intent."
For a 50 cm x 70 cm canvas, it's around $8,500.
For a 60 cm x 90 cm canvas, about $9,000.
For larger sizes, it starts at $12,000.
What's a painting for? A conversation starter, something that ages and increases in value, something that looks good on a wall? I've been collecting paintings from my travels for over a decade now. It's as if my wall can actually talk. I enjoy playing games with guests on which country a painting is from. Can you tell which one is from Turkey and which one is from Iran? Apart from landmarks and the figures which give hint about which country it is from, I often find myself speechless about describing the paintings to guests. What was the artist thinking when he/she was painting? What does it tell about the subject? Does art really need to have meaning? All sorts of art are beautiful, but I like my artworks to have meaning. I hope that you will never run out of things to say about what hangs on your wall and I hope that every time you see it, you discover something new.
"And more than anything, I hope I get to capture the beautiful person in you."
COMPLETED WORK SAMPLE
The Bananas Are Men
Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
50 cm x 70 cm
Micah is a new friend, but it feels like we have been best friends forever. It's amusing how she makes friends easily that you'd love to be around her. I am in awe of her free spirit. She once told me that all her things can be packed in two suitcases and that she can be anywhere anytime. More than anything, Micah has a big heart -- one that I would crown her for. It may be hard to believe that a woman like her is single -- yes, the bananas are men, but she's got a high fence. And why is the fence covered in gold?
There are 9 hidden meanings in this painting telling the story and character of Micah. Other hidden meanings can be interpreted by the observer and shall be just between me and the subject. A puzzle solver can decipher a melody in this painting which was composed for her. As a music lover, this is the trademark of all my paintings -- you can see it and if you like figuring things out, you can listen to it. And that's how my art works.
