"I have a bias for art movements that are ways of painting ... they typically end in -ism."
Why do I paint like this?
To me, the most remarkable art movements are ways of painting. If I define it simply, impressionism is when you paint with loose brush strokes or you paint your impression. Pointilism is when you paint with points. Cubism is when you paint with cubes. Today, when you see an artist paint with sharp edges and different shapes, you say that artist is a cubist.
An artist's distinct style which allows an observer to tell who the artist of the work is without checking the signature can also be because of a distinct character that can be associated with the artist or a distinct object, fruit, or animal or distinct colors. With contrasegmentism, I am braving to introduce not just the recognizable female figures that I have or the many objects that are balanced on top of my figures' heads, I wanted to create a way of painting. With contrasegmentism, anybody can be part of this movement of having contrasting segments of colors and textures to create a figure.
"I won't mind if my art style is copied. In fact,
I want for many artists to be contrasegmentists."
CONTRASEGMENTISM
"When I first googled contrasegmentism, it had zero result. Today, it has a full page of search results."
